Eliminate Single-use Bags

Since 2007, over 132 cities and counties in over 18 states have banned single-use plastic bags from stores across the United States.

Much of the momentum behind this movement comes over the findings that Americans throw away 100 billion plastic grocery bags every year. And while your event may only contribute a small amount to that number, it’s still important to do your part and avoid single-use bags as much as possible.

To fulfill this Best Practice do at least one of the following:

  • All event shopping done with reusable bags.
  • All skippers’ bags handed out to competitors are reusable.
  • Lunch bags are reusable or compostable.
