Keeping your regatta trash free is the most important aspect of Clean Regattas, and truly one of the simplest efforts to undertake and to measure. Look around during and after your event. Is there any trash or recycling on the ground or water? If not, congratulations, you've just run a trash-free regatta!

But how to best ensure that you don't end up with any debris or flotables?

Green Team - Put together a Green Team for your event who can make sure all waste stations are kept up, well posted with signs, bags are emptied and refilled, and racers are aware of them during and after the event.

Waste Reduction - Reduce your overall use of materials during your event. There are innumerable ways to make this happen, through Water Bottle Initiatives, going paperless with registration and press kits, and other targeted goals. The more you can reduce, the less you will have to recycle and throw away.

Compost (link coming soon) - Consider starting a compost bin at your site to take all organic matter out of the waste stream

Signage Download - download Sailors for the Sea Trash and Recycling stickers, to post on your waste bins.
