Ocean Watch Essays


Tall Ships for Sustainability, our first video essay, created by Katie Jewett for Sailors for the Sea. This video features the Schooner Adventuress and explores the mission of tall ships dedicated to environmental education. From providing youth science stations to sustainably supporting a full-time crew, tall ships around the country are making a difference to conserve the marine environment.

Learn more about the problems facing Puget Sound, and many bodies of water, by reading about ocean acidification, low oxygen levels, and plastics in the ocean.

Sailors for the Sea Opens its First Overseas Affiliate Office in Yokohama, Japan

Sailors for the Sea is proud to announce its first overseas affiliate office in Yokohama, Japan. On November 8, 2011, Sailors for the Sea Chairman David Rockefeller, Jr. signed the agreement allowing its affiliate  - official name is "Sailors for the Sea/Japan" - to extend the mission, vision and programs of Sailors for the Sea/US to Japan.
