David ("Max") Williamson is a partner at the Beveridge & Diamond law firm in Washington, D.C. and New York City, where he specializes in environmental law, land use issues, and emerging "green" businesses. Max is past chair of the D.C. Bar Environment Section and is active with a number of charitable causes, including serving as pro bono counsel to Haitian Education and Leadership Program, a scholarship program focused on civil society building in the Caribbean region.

Max is a retired professional sailor, 100-ton charter captain and former director of the J-World Sailing School in Key West. Max started sailing on Martha's Vineyard and crewed and later captained the classic 12-metre yachts "Northern Light" and "Gleam" in Newport, RI. He has competed on the championship level in numerous classes, including Solings, J-24, J-22, IMS, PHRF, Mumm 30, J-44, and Shields, winning titles at diverse venues including Block Island Race Week, J-24 East Coasts, Nantucket Opera House Cup, Buzzards Bay Regatta, Figawi Regatta, Swan Rolex, Fishing Bay Halsey Regatta and the IMS Worlds.

Max currently frostbites Lasers on the Potomac River, and cruises with his family in Bass Harbor, Maine.
