CEO and Executive Directordan(at)sailorsforthesea(dot)org Dan comes to Sailors for the Sea from San Francisco and the US Environmental Protection Agency where he developed strategic support for the West Coast Governors' Ocean Health Action Plan, was the Program Manager for the West Coast Estuaries Initiative, and was the EPA lead for the Santa Monica Bay National Estuary Program.
In addition to his work with the federal government, Dan has extensive experience with State and Tribal organizations, was on the Board of Directors at the Marine Science Institute and was the founder of CLEWGEAR, a lightweight foul-weather sailing clothing company.
Beyond his professional experiences, Dan is an active racing sailor, surfer, paddleboarder and swimmer who enjoys the ocean and coasts with his wife, Kim.
Dan now brings his experience and passion for the protection and restoration of marine ecosystems to Sailors for the Sea. Dan will build upon the existing organizational infrastructure with plans to bring our programs and projects to regional and national significance. We are pleased and enthusiastic about Dan Pingaro joining Sailors for the Sea. With his leadership, we will empower sailors and boaters to preserve and protect the harbors, bays and oceans which we all enjoy.
