Edward Dolman was appointed Chairman of Christie's International in September 2010. He previously served as the company's Chief Executive Officer, a position he held since December 1999. Mr. Dolman now focuses on global business development and client relationships at the highest levels of the art market. Mr. Dolman heads the Board of Christie's and is a member of the firm's elite team of auctioneers.

Edward Dolman has 26 years of experience with Christie's. During Mr. Dolman's tenure as CEO, he directed Christie's new business development and strategy and enhanced Christie's operations on a global basis. Leading Christie's through a decade of great change, Mr. Dolman shaped many groundbreaking initiatives for the company, including in the technology and business strategy areas to seize trends in the market which included a shift to modernism and a rapidly expanding global client base.

Edward Dolman had previously served as Managing Director of Christie's Europe, Managing Director of Christie's Americas and Managing Director of Christie's Amsterdam.  Mr. Dolman joined Christie's in 1984 and after several years as a European furniture specialist, he became a director and a department head.  Early in his career, Mr. Dolman was a key member of the Christie's South Kensington Senior Management Committee, which built this high-volume saleroom into the highly profitable and innovative auction facility it is today.

Mr. Dolman was educated at Dulwich College and Southampton University.  He continued his studies in the connoisseurship, appreciation and history of the decorative arts at The Study Centre for Fine and Decorative Arts in London. Edward Dolman was a skilled rugby player, captaining his school and university rugby teams.  After University he became Captain of the Surrey County Clubs, and the Combined London Old Boys Rugby Club from 1985 to 1988.   He still maintains a keen interest in the sport of rugby and is an enthusiastic supporter of Chelsea Football Club.   His other interests include sailing, cricket, golf and motorbikes. He was awarded the Légion d'Honneur in May 2007.
